Paul & Justin in London
Thursday 23 March
Thursday morning started out with shopping. With most of the sights to be seen already seen and our legs tired of walking, it was time to buy the souvenirs.
In the afternoon, we went to Waterloo station, taking a train bound for Cobham to visit some friends of Justin's parents. We happened to try to travel on the commuter railway the same day of a huge strike, but our train was only delayed by a few minutes and we were in Cobham about 40 minutes later.
Carol picked us up at the train station in her Vauxhall (GM's brand in the United Kingdom) and we were soon travelling on the wrong side of the road to her house. We took a tour of the house, and then it was off to see the American school where her children study.
We had dinner in a traditional English pub. I tried fish and chips, which was greasy but amazing. Justin had spaghetti and chicken in sauce.
We took the train back to Waterloo and the tubes back to the hotel, ready for a night of drinking! We went to the Zoo Bar and its downstairs club Venom. We had a few drinks and enjoyed the atmosphere. It was definitely a cool place with a lot of people having a great time. We went to bed ready for our last real day in London. Things we learned about Britain: Pimson Lemondade is a traditional drink that tastes bad.
